Principles and techniques of the grammar-translation method

PRINCIPLES:

It´s principles get the teacher in a traditional way.

Students are envolved in literature and grammar.
It gives a little attention to the reading and pronunciation.
The teacher is the only one who has the correct answer.
The student´s goal is to form good sentences using the correct grammatical structure.
Reading passages are given to the studets and answer comprenhension questions at the end of the class.
The teacher and the students talk in their native language.
The teacher explains in his native language the meaning of the words.
The teacher translates the whole class.


TECHNIQUES:

It sometimes has good techniques, but it depends on the teacher and his students. If as teacher we dont´t observe good results we should think about change our ways.

Reading a literature text- it helps students to understand the language´s culture of what they are learning to speak from.
Fill in the blanks- this is a way for students to practice their grammar.
Write down grammatical sentences- students practice grammar and comprenhension about topics which the teacher has taught.
Reading questions- students have to read questions loud and try to answer if they get confused the teacher corrects them.
Conversations- role-plays are a good way to pratice pronunciation and grammar at the same time.
